Frequently Asked Questions

Which document formats can I convert?

The converter supports all major office and text formats: PDF, DOCX (Word), XLSX (Excel), PPTX (PowerPoint), ODT, ODS, ODP (OpenDocument), RTF, TXT and CSV. You can convert in both directions between these formats.

Is the layout preserved when converting to PDF?

We use a server-side rendering engine to produce PDFs that match the original document as closely as possible — fonts, margins, tables, headers, footers and embedded images are preserved. Complex documents with custom fonts or advanced Word features may show minor layout differences.

Is there a file size limit for documents?

The maximum upload size is 100 MB per document. This comfortably covers most Word documents, spreadsheets and presentations, including those with embedded images. For very large PDFs, use the PDF Compress tool first.

Can I merge or split PDF files?

Yes. The PDF Merge tool combines several PDF files into one, in the order you choose. The PDF Split tool extracts individual pages or ranges into separate PDF files. Both tools are free with no watermarks.

Can I edit a PDF after converting it to DOCX?

Yes — that is the main reason people convert PDF to DOCX. Once in Word format, you can freely edit the text, tables, images and formatting. Keep in mind that scanned PDFs (images of text rather than actual text layers) require OCR.

Are the converted documents private?

Yes. Uploads travel over HTTPS, files are held in a private temporary directory keyed to your IP, and they are automatically deleted within 4 hours. We do not open, read, index, store, share, or train machine-learning models on your documents.

Why is the converted PDF slightly different from the Word original?

Microsoft Word uses several proprietary layout features that cannot be replicated perfectly by open-source engines. In most cases the differences are invisible, but if pixel-perfect fidelity matters, we recommend exporting to PDF directly from Word.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs?

No. For privacy reasons, our converter cannot open encrypted or password-protected PDFs. You will need to remove the password yourself using the original application before uploading.

What is the difference between DOCX, ODT and RTF?

DOCX is the modern Microsoft Word format. ODT is the OpenDocument equivalent used by LibreOffice. RTF (Rich Text Format) is an older, simpler format supported by almost every text editor. DOCX has the richest formatting, ODT is the most open, and RTF is the most portable.

Can I convert an image or photo to a PDF?

Yes — use the Image to PDF tool. You can drop one or several images (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC) and combine them into a single PDF document. The original resolution is preserved, and you can pick page size (A4, Letter) and orientation.
