What is the maximum video file size I can convert?

The upload limit is 2 GB per file. This is large enough for full-length 1080p videos and most 4K clips up to around 10 minutes. If your file is larger, use the Video Compressor tool first to reduce its size.

Which video formats are supported?

The converter accepts MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV, FLV, WMV, MPG, OGG, 3GP, M4V, TS and M2TS as input. You can convert any of these to MP4, WebM, MKV, AVI, MOV, OGV or GIF, or extract the audio track to MP3, AAC, WAV, OGG or FLAC.

How long does video conversion take?

Conversion time depends on the length, resolution and codec of your video. As a rough rule, converting a 10-minute 1080p MP4 to WebM takes about 3–5 minutes on our server, while just changing the container (for example MOV to MP4) is often done in under a minute.

Why does my video need to be uploaded to your server?

Video conversion requires FFmpeg, a tool that browsers cannot run efficiently for large files. Unlike images, which we convert locally, videos must be processed on our server. Every file is automatically deleted within 4 hours of upload.

Are my video files private and secure?

Yes. Uploads happen over encrypted HTTPS, files are stored in an isolated job folder tied to your IP, and they are permanently deleted within 4 hours. We do not view, index, re-encode for training, or share your videos with any third party.

Can I change the resolution or bitrate?

Yes. Before starting conversion you can pick a target resolution (1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p, 240p, or original) and a bitrate from 200 to 20,000 kbps. Lower values give smaller files, higher values give better visual quality.

How do I convert a video to MP3 (extract audio)?

Drop your video onto the converter, pick MP3, AAC, WAV, FLAC or OGG as the output format, and click Convert. The video stream is discarded and only the audio track is encoded. There is also a dedicated MP4 to MP3 page for this common task.

What video codec is best — H.264, H.265, VP9 or AV1?

H.264 (inside MP4) has the widest device compatibility and is safest for sharing. H.265 and VP9 compress roughly 40% better but are slower to encode. AV1 offers the best compression but currently has the longest encoding time. For general use we recommend MP4 with H.264.

Can I convert a video to GIF?

Yes — pick GIF as the output format. You can also choose a frame rate from 1 to 20 FPS. Lower frame rates keep the file small; higher frame rates give smoother motion. Keep in mind that GIF files can grow very large for clips longer than 10 seconds.

What happens if I close my browser during conversion?

Active jobs are tied to your session via a heartbeat signal. If you close the tab for more than 30 seconds, the server cancels the conversion and cleans up the files to free resources. If you just refresh the page, the session is restored.
